Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Moment (“Moment,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), developed by Jay Gervais, handles information when you use the Moment mobile application. Moment is designed to be local-first: your timers and related content stay on your device unless you choose to share or export them.
1. Overview
Moment does not require an account and does not operate a Moment user database in the cloud for your countdown and tracker content. Core app data is stored on your device.
2. Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use Moment, the app may store locally:
- Timer details you create (titles, notes, dates and times, type, archive state, and related settings)
- Optional cover images you choose from your photo library
- Progress information such as milestones, levels or stages, check-ins, and streaks
- App preferences (for example reminder settings, clock format, and pinned widget selection)
- Backup files you create when you export or import Moment data
This information remains on your device under your control. Deleting the app, or clearing app storage through your operating system, may permanently remove it unless you have exported a backup.
3. Permissions and device features
Moment may request access to device features only as needed for functionality you use:
- Photos / media. To attach optional cover images to timers.
- Notifications. To deliver optional Moment reminders for milestones and check-ins.
- Home screen widgets. To show a pinned countdown or tracker on your Home Screen.
- Sharing / storage. To create share cards or export backup files when you initiate those actions.
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features will not work without the related permission.
4. Sharing and export
If you share a Moment card or export a backup, the content you choose leaves the app through the share or file tools provided by your device. Moment does not upload that content to a Moment server as part of normal use. Recipients of shared images or backup files are outside Moment’s control once you share or save them.
5. Analytics, advertising, and accounts
Moment does not require sign-in. Moment is not designed to sell your personal information, serve third-party advertising profiles based on your timers, or require cloud sync of your countdown and tracker library for core use.
Your device platform (Apple, Google, or others) and any app store may collect their own diagnostic, purchase, or usage information under their policies when you install or use apps. That collection is governed by those companies, not by this policy.
6. Children’s privacy
Moment is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through Moment cloud services, because Moment’s timer data is kept on-device. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that concerns you, contact us using the details below.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because Moment stores your content locally, retention is primarily controlled by you. You can edit or delete timers in the app, clear app data through your device, uninstall Moment, or manage exported backups and shared images outside the app.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps appropriate for a local-first app, including keeping timer data on-device by default. No method of electronic storage is completely secure. Protect access to your device and any exported backup files.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Moment after an update means you accept the revised policy.
